Daughters of the King

At Saint Raphael's we have a small but important group of women who want to take their spiritual journey to a deeper level in a group of
closely knit women who find prayer, service and support of this parish important and meaningful daily. I am talking about The Daughters of
The King. Not all Episcopal Churches have a Chapter of this Order. We are pleased that the clergy and vestry of Saint Raphael's is supportive
of our Order.

We meet once a month, usually the third Thursday of the month. We each participate daily in keeping our Rule of Life, our Rule of Prayer and our Rule of Service. We wear the Cross that is the symbol of The Daughters of The King.  We maintain and pray for people on our Prayer List daily. Our prayer list is confidential and private.  We study and we are active in our church and step-up when someone or something is needed

in our church. We are not a club. We are not allowed to make money for our services. We pay local and National Dues. Saint Raphael's does
not support us monetarily in any way. We support the church in many ways.

Any woman who has been Baptized and Confirmed may join The Daughters of The King after completing a Twelve Lesson Study Course which is a discernment period in which she decides with the help of fellow participants and the Study Director that she meets the qualificationsneeded to become A Daughter. We try to meet six times to complete the twelve study lessons. You are welcome to attend a DOK meeting tosee if it is a "good fit" for you by asking one of the current Daughters if you may attend.  This way we will have enough materials for everyone

Women will be introduced and made to feel comfortable. Our next meeting is on Thursday, September 8 at 1:00 pm in the parish hall.  A new Discernment/Study group will begin on Monday, September 19 at 2:00 pm. This is an Orientation Meeting.

The Daughters of The King are identified by the cross we all wear and we have blue Daughter of the King name badges. If you want more nformation about Daughters of The King there are pamphlets in the church office and also in the display rack in the Parish Hall. Talk to us,ask questions, this is a deep spiritual journey.
